Treat a rough drawing like a rough drawing. You might just be so loose and expressive with your mark-making that you end up liking it more than your typically rigid finished work. Then you can use/incorporate it into your final.

If you can’t sleep because you can’t stop thinking about those thumbnails you have to draw up and send off in the morning, just get up and do them. You’re awake anyway! And then you get to sleep in.
