I found it! I finally found them! Blind contour portraits I drew on the back of a Cora’s placemat, featuring my favourite sister-girls, Erin and Steven.
This piece continues to get a pretty crazy amount of Tumblr attention (with no less than 7,490 notes), so I’ve FINALLY decided to list it in my Etsy shop. Here are some specs:
8 x 10” print
Printed on Epson Cold Press Bright textured paper (acid free, 100% cotton rag)
All prints are signed and numbered (belonging to a limited print run of 30)
The beginnings of a rough composition for one of the other poster I’m making for Music Paste advertising Pretty Girls Make Graves.
The synthesis between the lipstick and a bullet was too easy. I’m going to do the best I can to ensure that it doesn’t appear phallic. The show info will fall somewhere in that blank area of nothing. I think I’m going to try skewing that text in the opposite direction.
I have this terrible habit of attempting to draw roughs within a drawn shape, though I always break past the workspace I’ve set for myself, thus explaining the random, dark lines that run through parts of this sketch.
The rough nature of my rough composition for one of the posters I’m making for Music Paste.
After I scanned this, I realized that I forgot to include the year (2004) and the name of the band that opened for The Unicorns on this date (They Shoot Horses Do Not They?), so I’ve got to factor those in at the bottom. I’m considering the addition of some kind of border to unify the top illustration and the bottom textual information since the writing is more naive than the treatment of the ghosty boyscout.
Now seems like an appropriate time to tell you about my involvement in the Sizzle Teen Records’ Annual Poster Show, as I’ll displaying 2-3 music posters at the event alongside 11 talented British Columbia locals. The posters will advertise concerts that occurred between 1985 and 2005 – shows that the artists either saw and loved or wish they could have attended.
For those of you who live in Vancouver, the show is taking place at Little Mountain Gallery. Prints will be for sale at the event for the modest price of $15. I won’t be able to attend the event, but hopefully I can get my hands on some photos afterwards :)
I’ve started to post listings for prints in my Etsy shop. I’ll post more as more people show interest (‘cause then I can pay my Etsy bill haha). In the mean time, click here to view my shop!
I’ve been artistically absent from the web, but I’ve got a few things to get working on, so you’ll see some posts really soon! Promise.
PS Don’t you just love Gmail and its colour-coded labeling system?
